No TV for the Baby, Doctors' Group Urges
Over the past decade pediatricians have been studying media exposure to infants 2 years old and younger. They have found that if infants watch too much tv and other video sources they might have trouble with developing their speech skills. When babies are watching tv, their parents will tend to talk and interact with them less compared to if they we playing with a toy and such. Even if a tv is on in the background an infant would look at the screen on a average of 3 times every minute. Because of this, infants have a harder time developing their speech due to less one on one interaction and talking from their parents. Doctors recommend that parents should limit their child's media intake to a minimum and increase one on one time. Even when the child is the age of 2 and older, their media intake should not be more than 2 hours a day.
I think parents should really follow what these doctors are saying because I actually find this true because my younger cousin would always watch tv when he was an infant due to the fact that his parents were always at work and as he was growing up he would have a hard time talking and such.
